Hilton Supra, Vice Chairman of Ztudium Group, interviews Ana Nacvalovaite, Research Fellow at Kellogg College, University of Oxford in the latest episode of citiesabc YouTube podcast to discuss the Environment Social Governance aspect of Sovereign Wealth Investments in different parts of the world from her academic perspective. The interview is live now on citiesabc & openbusinesscouncil YouTube channel.
Sovereign Wealth Funds, with their immense financial resources, have a unique opportunity to shape the global investment landscape through ESG initiatives. These funds are often tasked with safeguarding and growing a nation’s wealth for future generations. As such, they are increasingly recognizing that responsible and sustainable investing aligns with their long-term objectives. Speaking from her academic research and experience about a holistic view of ESG investments by Sovereign Wealth funds, Dr. Ana said:
“ESG is itself ingrained in cooperative and employee-owned businesses, because it’s the community that comes together and really wants to look after its own people and their future generations, as well as the environmental angle.”
SWFs from countries such as Norway, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore have been at the forefront of this shift, demonstrating that responsible investing can be both profitable and ethical.
“It is all about inclusive innovation and building bridges and relationships. If you bring governments and businesses to the same platforms, it could help adopt an inclusive approach that involves developing products and services focussed on ensuring that ESG is at the heart of communities and profit”, she said.
