Tachyum Paves the Way for Quantum-Safe Data Security with NIST Algorithms

Tachyum® has announced a significant milestone in its commitment to data security by successfully porting all four quantum-safe algorithms recommended by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) across its Prodigy® software platforms. This advancement ensures data centre deployments leveraging Tachyum’s universal processor remain secure and resilient against emerging quantum computing threats.

Addressing quantum computing threats to cryptography

Quantum computing, an evolving technology, offers unparalleled performance for complex algorithms such as optimisation and molecular simulations. However, it also poses a significant risk to current cryptographic systems. Shor’s algorithm, a quantum-computing method capable of breaking existing data security protocols, is projected to disrupt encryption standards within the next five years.

Recognising this potential risk, Tachyum’s engineering team has integrated and validated NIST’s quantum-resistant asymmetric algorithms—ML-KEM, ML-DSA, SLH-DSA, and Falcon—into the Prodigy platform. Additionally, the platform supports the quantum-safe AES-256 standard, which has been optimised for enhanced security.
