FutureFest is back with an inspiring programme of experiences and debates on 17-18 September in London. FutureFest began in 2013, and its aim from the beginning was to gather together some of the planet’s most radical thinkers, makers and performers,  in a collective and immersive rehearsal of a forecasted future. This year the event will take  place at London’s Tobacco Dock on 17 – 18 September, and it will approach four themes central to all our lives – Love, Work, Thrive and Play. Each is curated by a specialist in the field

Ghislaine Boddington from body>data>space curated the event Future Love, the new interactive installation ‘Collective Reality’ and ‘The Games Europe Plays’.

Follow Future Love at FutureFest

With Future Love curator Ghislaine Boddington explores the shift of this universal emotion as our digital world takes us on a journey beyond the physical to merge with the virtual. Invited pioneers, innovators and future thinkers share their visions as we become intimate with the synthetic, caress at a distance and implant our bodies.

Here are some highlights for Future Love :

  • DJ Spooky – The Future of Love Music
  • Cindy Gallop- Sex and The Office: The Future of Love and Work
  • Love Gaming?
  • Soh Yeong Roh – My Fair Robot

Other speakers include Brian Eno, Will Self, Sherry Coutu, Mustafa Suleyman, Melody Hossaini, Oliver Peyton, Es Devlin, Luca Turin, Shu Lea Cheang, Rhianna Pratchett and Paul Sermon. And don’t miss the Implant Party on Saturday morning!

The Future of Love theme also includes some insightful installations running both days: a generative immersion work Collective Reality, exploring digital togetherness, a youth radio project Coming Out,and experts sharing visions on Love After Death in a digital age.

Collective Reality – Experience Togetherness

‘Collective Reality’ comes alive when you come together. As aware of us as we are of it, this digital environment invites us to move and perform as a group to create unique visuals and sounds. Using a convergence of generative technologies, it looks ten years ahead, beyond the current VR headset craze, to real-time collective reality.

Collective reality was commissioned by FutureFest 2016 and created by body>data>space in collaboration with the University of Greenwich (CPDA), d3 technologies and Genelec.

It will present ‘Molding the Signifier’ an installation by Ivor Diosi (Czech Republic), debate speaker Marco Donnaruma (Italy) and freestyle footballers interacting into the virtual with their pure physical gaming as part of Collective Reality (UK).

A EUNIC London project, The Games Europe Plays is a series of exhibitions, events and talks showcasing some of the most innovative games and digital experiences from Europe.
