New hands-on event will provide participants with the tools needed to develop creative skills in an entertaining and inspirational way

CamCreatives, a centralized voice for the creative people in Cambridgeshire and Software Acumen, organisers of practical conferences software practitioners, have combined their respective skills sets, to launch a hands-on event to promote the concept of creativity in the workplace.

Called creativeConf Cambridge 2015, this new event is taking place at Anglia Ruskin University, East Road, Cambridge CB1 1PT on the 24th October and is being sponsored by Creative Front, an initiative led by the University to stimulate and grow the creative industries in Cambridge and the surrounding area.

creativeConf Cambridge will examine what the term “creativity” means and will help participants discover their own creative skills and ideas by participating in a variety of practical and interactive sessions.

Sessions will be led by a variety of creative thinkers including Dr Stephanie Taylor, a Social psychologist from the Open University, Simon Jack from Creative Encounters training company and Vaiva Kalnikaite from Dovetailed, a UX studio and innovation lab that has developed a 3D printer that can make edible fruit and Dinis Guarda, the CEO of Ztudium ( the publisher of Intelligenthq) that will talk about “Creative Destruction Versus Creative Evangelisation”.

creativeConf Cambridge is not only for those who are actively involved in creativity on a daily basis, it is particularly intended for individuals who do not consider themselves to be naturally creative. At the event participants will find out how creativity can be used to encourage team building, overcome communications barriers and solve problems in a fun and entertaining way.

“CamCreatives has been bringing together all those involved in the creative disciplines since 2009”, comments Steve O’Connor of CamCreatives. “At creativeConf Cambridge we hope to give participants who do not consider themselves to be naturally creative the confidence they need to apply the basic principles of creativity to their everyday lives and see the benefits as a result”.

The organizer of the event is Software Acumen, a Cambridge-based company that runs practical events for the software community throughout the UK. Conferences include Agile Cambridge, UX Cambridge, UX Scotland and Service Design in Government.

The company also runs Software East – bringing the best software speakers to the East of England. Software East runs free evening events in Cambridge and supports other events throughout the region.
